I am a woman in sales, in tech. More specifically a woman in SaaS Sales.
Why does this matter?
This matters for many reasons but for purposes of this post I will focus on just 2 reasons.
1. Creating women in sales groups at your company will enable the women in sales at your company to feel more connected to each other.
This type of group will allow opportunities for women in sales at your company to connect with other women in similar roles. This type of group will help women in sales in different sales functions get more exposure to each other. This type of group would be a useful and helpful outlet for women to learn from each other, support each other and help each other navigate their sales career at your company.
2. Creating women in sales grous at companies in your city will enable the companies in your city to become more connected and build a community that matters.
It will form a community for women in sales where this group of women will learn from each other.
Why Both Matter.
If you just have a woman in sales group at your company and keep it to just your internal women in sales you are only going to get certain kinds of insight and learning from that group. Learning from each other is definitely something we want and encourage but if you kept it just your company you won’t get outside thinking seeping into your company.
By creating a community of women in sales in your city you will open up everyone to new opinions and new learnings. People tend to think and evolve as a company. You have a certain culture at your company and a certain way of doing things. Getting outside feedback and networking with a community of like minded women in sales at other companies will help employees at all of those companies to become stronger sales people. It will also create a community in your city where women in sales is a real TOPIC, a REAL THING.
There are all kinds of women in sales. There are women in retail sales, women in tech sales, women in financial sales, women in non profit development, there are women in real estate, etc. There are women in sales in almost every market and industry. We should all be learning from each other.
The only way to do this is to expose your women in sales internally to each other as well as expose these women to different mindsets of women at other companies. Everyone can learn and help each other be stronger women in sales.
By creating this kind of community women who are not in sales might contemplate joining a company in a sales role. A women in sales community will help foster discussion on what it is like to be a woman working in sales in many different kinds of companies and industries. This type of community will help women have a voice about what it is like to be a woman working in sales in X industry or X space.
How could this kind of community not be helpful for women?#WomeninSales
